Information: Lake Chatuge is located in two states parts Georgia and North Carolinas. Construction on Lake Chatuge started on July 17, 1941. The gates were closed on February 12, 1942.
The construction of the Lake Chatuge Project incurred 1,521,831 man hours of labor. During the construction 1 man lost his life, and 24 suffered injuries. The project relocated 278 families and caused the removal of 532 gravesites. Some of the materials used to build the dam at Lake Chatuge are 21,900 cubic yards of concrete, and 362,466 cubic yards of earth excavation for the foundation.
