Information: The village was founded in 1907. The area was first explored during the 1600s by French settlers and in the 1800s it was known as Nippersink. Al Capone went to what is now Mineola Bar and Restaurant in Fox Lake, Illinois. Fox Lake is where many people come to visit as their summer homes from Chicago. Fox Lake backs up to the Chain O'Lakes which is a great place to swim, boat, jet ski, and go tubing and boarding.
