Information: "Lake Thunderbird is a man-made lake created in 1970 by American Central Corporation from Lansing, Michigan. The lake is fed by a tributary of the Senachwine Creek and supplemented by natural springs which assures a year round flow of water.
Lake Thunderbird is two-and-a-half miles long and has approximately eight-and-a-half miles of shoreline and 135 acres of water. The deepest depth is 66 feet with an average depth of 35 feet. Lake Thunderbird was developed as a lake community consisting of
1,560 acres of rolling, wooded hills formed by glaciers. The original master plan by the developer included many amenities for the use of members and their families. There are numerous private forest preserve areas and nature trails, playgrounds and picnic areas, a sand beach with bath house, and a clubhouse complete with an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, volleyball court, and basketball court.
These originally planned amenities are still present today and have been added to and improved upon since their inception."
