Information: Brookville Lake is situated in the picturesque
Whitewater River Valley. This valley and the surrounding
area are known for the contributions they made to Indiana. Traces of prehistoric Indian mounds, known for their archaeological significance, can still be found in some parts of the valley. The first section of land which became part of the Indiana territory in 1795 was defined by the Greenville Treaty Line which runs through the northwest section of Brookville Lake property. The earliest settlers of the region encountered several Indian tribes, notably the
Miami and the Delaware. The hills and valleys along
the Whitewater River were favored for hunting by
these early natives.
