The structure at Lake Colorado City varies from steep rocky bluffs near the dam to mud flats in the upper and middle sections of the reservoir. The mud flats are typically lined with bulrushes. Additionally, the power plant discharges warm water at the dam and at mid-lake, causing continuous swift currents near the discharges.
Boat ramps are available at Lake Colorado City State Park (325) 728-3931 and Cooper's Cove. Campgrounds at the state park are open March through November.
