The watershed supports abundant recreational opportunities, unique fish, wildlife, and plant habitats, hydropower generation, and is the first River in Connecticut to have a section federally designated as Wild & Scenic. The Watershed’s reservoirs and aquifers provide clean water to about 1 million people (1/3rd of Connecticut’s entire population).
